Risers, stringers, spindles and newel posts painted white. Treads and handrail left as wood.
An exterior door with a glass insert, taken from a chipped red to black. Glass, hardware and frame stayed.
A covered porch and deck, weathered to grey, stained in two tones with the border boards picked out lighter.
Original oak doors, drawer fronts and boxes painted white. Same boxes, same layout, same microwave.
Before & after
A kitchen of original oak cabinets — doors, drawer fronts and boxes — taken to white. Same kitchen, same layout. Nothing torn out.
Before
After
Cabinets take more prep than anything else in a house. Kitchen grease has to come off before anything will stick, oak grain needs sealing or it shows through, and the finish has to stand up to being wiped down for years. That's where the time goes, not the top coats.
Services
One job at a time, inside or out. Paint, stain and the prep that goes under them; no tiling. Patching, sanding and caulking are in the price. No change orders halfway through.
Rooms that need a refresh. Furniture covered, floors papered, edges cut by hand. Holes and cracks filled before the first coat.
Doors, drawer fronts and boxes, taken from dated oak to a colour that suits the room. Prepped so the finish stands up to being wiped down.
Decks, steps and railings, stained or sealed. Needs warm, dry weather, so it books up for summer.
Baseboards, casings, doors, stair rails and spindles. Slow work, and it's the first thing people notice.
Shelving, rods and the inside of the door. Small jobs, done on their own or tacked onto a room.
Small pieces: dressers, side tables, chairs. Sanded back and repainted or restained.
Nail pops, cracks, water stains and patchwork mudded, sanded and blended before paint goes on.
Process
No deposit before you've seen a number in writing.
Form or email, either works. Photos help. Not required.
Measuring up, and a straight answer about what needs fixing before paint.
A fixed price, itemised, usually back the next day.
Everything covered and masked before a lid comes off. Cleaned up every evening.
Room by room, together. Touch-ups get done before the invoice, not after.
About
On The Roll Painters is a new, aspiring business. It's run by Lexis Carter and is solely independent.
No foreman, no crew rotating through, nobody in the house you haven't already met. One job at a time, focusing on every detail to ensure the best possible application and results for you as the client.
Previous jobs have run from a single closet to an entire kitchen including cabinets, as well as stairwells, railings, trim and doors, and refinishing and staining decks, all the way up to 13,000 sq ft homes.
Inside work carries on through the winter while the exterior crews sit still, so a room that's been waiting since the fall can get booked now. Decks and doors wait for the warm months.
Every job is completed with the same precision, application, and attention to detail to remain reliable and consistent. This allows the best possible feedback, along with satisfied clients, which is the main priority.
Taking on work now.
For painting companies
Painting companies with more work than crew can bring Lexis on for a project. A day rate for labour; travel, and materials if she's supplying them, charged by the job. The same prep and cut lines as on her own work.
Labour, one painter, one full day.
Travel by the project. Materials at cost, if she's the one buying them.
Send the dates, the address and what's being painted; terms come back in writing.
